Acronym for American Standard Code for Information Interchange.
Describes an antiquated character encoding system first developed in 1967.
Often refers to monospace raster characters in general.
ASCII Art refers to artwork composed of ASCII characters.
ASCII ^2
Font engine that facilitates new ASCII fonts composed of existing ASCII characters.
A ridiculous thing.
Accepts ASCII values between 32 and 126 inclusive (includes majiscules, miniscules, numerals, and punctuation).
Typefaces need not be monospace or even legible, see "reSizer" font for hack example.

As a child I spent countless hours on an Apple ][+ staring at the monospace green characters.
Once I learned the CHR$ command it became easy to output the entire ASCII palette to the screen in a single loop.
I've been fascinated ever since.
